US-Iran Peace Deal: Trump Claims Historic Agreement to End Conflict and Reopen Strait of Hormuz
US Iran Peace Deal - During the G7 summit in Evian, France, US President Donald Trump described the latest deal with Iran as historic, asserting that it would resolve the ongoing conflict in West Asia, restore full access to the Strait of Hormuz, and ensure Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon. In a press conference, Trump emphasized that the agreement, reached on Sunday, fulfilled all the United States' key objectives and surpassed them.
“This G7 summit was one of the most successful, and this meeting couldn’t have come at a better time. On Sunday, we reached an agreement with Iran that achieved everything we set out to do,” Trump said, citing a tweet from the Press Trust of India.
Trump further stated that Iran is incapable of developing, purchasing, or retaining nuclear weapons under the terms of the pact. He argued that sustained military action would have led to a worsening situation, potentially blocking the Strait of Hormuz and causing economic instability on a global scale.
“If this situation had continued, we could have faced an economic catastrophe, similar to the 1929 Great Depression,” Trump added, referencing another tweet from the Press Trust of India.
Highlighting the agreement’s economic implications, Trump noted that the possibility of peace immediately spurred a rise in global stock markets. He remarked that every time discussions about peace emerged, markets reacted with sharp increases, never declining.
“I did not want to see an economic catastrophe. If this situation had continued, that could have happened,” Trump stated in a third tweet from the Press Trust of India.
Trump also highlighted extended discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, praising the Indian leader for his collaboration. “Prime Minister Modi was here. We had lengthy talks, and he’s an extraordinary individual,” he said, referencing an ANI tweet. The US leader claimed that most global leaders, including G7 nations, endorsed the deal as a critical step toward regional peace.
“The past two days allowed us to discuss the details of this agreement with many of our closest allies, including the G7 nations and several world leaders,” Trump explained, citing an ANI report.
Finally, Trump commended French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, for their support. “I wanted to thank President Macron and Brigitte, his lovely wife, for hosting us in France for an extremely successful summit,” he said, emphasizing the joint effort to secure the deal.
